Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Providing leadership to operations, commercial, logistics and contract haulers ensuring a high standard in protection activities relative to safety, environment, quality, productivity, and cost.
Providing leadership for the operational deployment of centralized dispatch as well as other technological and/or safety initiatives for over 250 contract log trucks delivering to multiple sort facilities as well as direct to customers;
Managing all Logistics contract log haulers including maintenance of hauling rate structure, rate negotiations, and resolving operational contract issues;
Managing the Mosaic Training Program for Log Haulers including the creation of all training materials such as the Log Haul SOP video training series for industrial workers;
Maintaining Fleet Management On-Boarding Standards with Timberland Operations, Forestry Operations, Mosaic’s external log sourcing program and Contractors;
Leading the development and deployment of streamlined transportation systems with a focus on reducing log handling through the supply chain;
Overseeing the deployment of telematics contractor reporting systems and standards;
Ensuring contract log hauling activities are in compliance with transportation regulations, OH&S regulations, industry best practices, and meet USW agreement requirements;
Contributing to the long-term planning for land-based supply chain transportation, annual budgeting and supporting the logistics team to ensure decisive and timely responses to supply chain constraints;
Communicating and collaborating effectively with operations and senior management to foster a results-oriented, innovative and world class team; and
Representing Mosaic on provincial hauling advisory committees;
Required Skills and Experience
Technical diploma or equivalent in forestry, supply chain, or transportation;
Certifications in logistics (CCLP), supply chain management (SCMP) and/or forestry (RPF or RFT) are preferred, but not required;
Level 1 First Aid – training will be provided as required;
5+ years of progressive management experience in industrial transportation, logistics, supply chain and/or forest operations;
Strong communication, leadership and relationship building skills;
Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills;
Strong business acumen and ability to operate at both a strategic and tactical level;
Experience in project management and systems implementation;
Experience developing and reporting on key performance indicators;
Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and streamline activities;
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in team-based environments; and
Experience managing with a contract or unionized workforce is preferred, but not required.
