About the Team:
The Embedded Map Application Software team develops map data SW to enable handsfree driving solutions for General Motors on a Global scale. We are a team of highly specialized and technical software developers that builds solution for GM mapping program as part of the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) organization.
The Role
In the role of Software Developer, you will be collaborating with software development team, product manager, and stakeholders to develop, and define technical solutions for challenging mapping problems. You are accountable for developing high quality software to meaningfully contribute to Map Data Tools suits. This role requires a high levels of Software engineering skills and leadership skills, where you will have a high level of responsibility of leading new projects and contributing to the existing code base.
Responsibilities include:
Developing software applications using modern C++.
Database and Embedded Application Knowledge.
Performance tuning, usability assessment/improvement.
Aggressively engage in the identification / remediation of software issues related to code or solutions quality.
Technical writing regarding system design specifications and user documentation.
Analyze software defects; determine root cause, create software solution, test and verify closure.
Practice software development in SAFe© agile framework and attend Scrum ceremonies for iteration planning, demos, retrospectives, and daily standup.
Additional Job Description
Required Skills and Experience
4+ Years of Hands-on Software Development experience using modern C++.
Experience in object-oriented software development, algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
Demonstrable knowledge of software development lifecycles and activities.
Excellent technical knowledge of SQL.
Demonstrated knowledge of database modelling and data structure principles, techniques and best practices.
Ability to lead software projects to develop highly complex and critical software.
Strong teamwork focus and the ability to cultivate collaboration within and across teams
Preferred Qualification:
Experience building and maintaining highly automated CI and CD pipelines.
Experience with Cloud platforms: Azure, Kubernetes, Docker and containers.
Experience supporting mapping applications in Production.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Master’s degree in a related technical field is preferred.
