About the Role
At Family Services of Greater Vancouver, we’ve been helping people in crisis since 1928. As a non-profit, we help people develop skills and knowledge, empowering our neighbours to create positive change in their lives. Our team is made up of more than 420 staff, including expert counsellors and support workers who provide compassionate, client-centered care to youth experiencing homelessness, families and children impacted by trauma, victims of domestic violence, and other vulnerable people from an evidence-based, trauma-informed lens. Individual donors have the most important potential to help grow the mission and impact of FSGV. The Manager, Individual Giving will play an essential leadership role in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding mid-level donors to grow annual revenue, and to support the development of a sustainable major gift pipeline. They will work proactively and independently to grow donors’ connection and giving to FSGV as the organization scales up to raise $3+ million annually, with the potential of also embarking on a capital campaign in the next 2-3 years.
The successful candidate will be a solution-oriented collaborator with good communication, listening and relationship-building skills, and have a passion for the social services sector and the people it serves.

Salary: $73,164 annually salary
Location: 1638 East Broadway with the possibility of working from home for a portion of the week (Hybrid work)

What you bring:
Mid-Level & Major Giving
Manages a portfolio of current and prospective individual donors, generating significant annual and deferred revenue in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
Schedules face-to-face and virtual donor meetings for themselves and/or Executive colleagues and volunteers.
Conducts prospect research and analysis, generates proposals, fundraising materials, reports and other related communications.
Closes on personalized solicitations of $5K+.
Provides leadership in identifying and cultivating future capital campaign donors.
Ensures appropriate donor recognition, acknowledgement, and stewardship.
Maintains accurate donor records using the Raiser’s Edge database (NXT and database view).
Provides advice and guidance with regard to estate and gift planning, following up on inquiries and requests for information from various community sources and colleagues.
Provides volunteer management support as needed.
Annual Giving
Develop annual plans, and project manage campaigns to drive donor acquisition, building the pipeline of donors, and growing urgently-needed undesignated revenue.
Strategically grow the Monthly Giving program to promote undesignated recurring gifts.
Leadership & Planning
Revise and oversee a coordinated Donor Stewardship Plan, in collaboration with Communications colleagues
Gain a deep knowledge of program needs, and researches potential funding opportunities to meet identified funding opportunities.
In collaboration with the Director, Development and Communications, contributes to the annual and long-term Fund Development planning process, including formulating the annual operating budget.
Provides monthly/quarterly reports on individual donor pipeline, including new prospects, proposals, and the status of pending donor commitments to the Director, CEO and Board, as required.
Works with cross-functional colleagues to anticipate linkages in annual fund development plans, and ensure strategic donor-centred prospect management.
Manages seasonal contract staff as required.
Education, Training, Experience
5+ years of demonstrated success working with individual donors
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
CFRE preferred
Experience in the social services sector preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
A proactive and entrepreneurial work ethic
Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Excellent writing and editing skills
A systems thinker with strong attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and work under shifting priorities and deadlines
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
Experience with online fundraising platforms (Raisers Edge NXT)
A deep knowledge of donor relationship management.
Solid understanding of planned giving vehicles such as bequests, gifts of securities, donor advised funds, endowments, life insurance, annuities, etc.
Knowledge of CRA guidelines for charitable giving
