THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a Framing Labourer to join our construction team. This role is located on site and reports to the Principal. The Framing Labourer will perform a wide variety of duties including but not limited to:
Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements. Preparing layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools. Such general tasks including measuring, cutting, shaping and assembling to join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
Building foundations, installing floor beams, laying subflooring and erecting walls and roof systems as well as fitting and installing trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware. Supervising apprentices and other construction workers.
Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement by thinking critically about tasks and procedures with the objective of finding better and more efficient ways of performing duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Education
Previous construction experience is desired, but not necessary
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High energy with a positive attitude
Must be reliable, responsible, and hard-working
Well-developed written and oral communications skills
Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
