Junior Layout Artist

This position is based in Vancouver. All applicants must reside in the United States or British Columbia/Ontario if applying within Canada.

Zoic Studios is currently seeking a junior Layout Artist to join our Camera Department.

The ideal candidate will have junior knowledge of cameras, shot layout, rough animation and composition. This position is considered entry level and therefore the artist must demonstrate an educated level of experience of the VFX pipeline and have interest in learning and expanding their career in layout.

Requirements

• Shot/sequence construction based on cameras/geo provided by TRK/MMV department
• Train on the Zoic pipeline and tools
• Minor animation work
• Maintain clean/organized scene files
• Place cameras in environments based on supervisors instruction
• Maintain consistency between camera placement through sequences
• Place assets in shot based on supervisors instruction
• Provide QC of tracking/matchmove work when possible
• Occasionally build full CG cameras and compose
• Constantly learn new techniques through training from seniors and leads
• Be able to work under the pressure of television timelines
• Work well in a team environment
• Ability to take direction and notes well
• Notify leads of any concern with workload/timelines

Qualifications, Skills and Software Required

• 1+ years of production experience in layout or VFX education
• Proficiency in Maya
• Good understanding of cameras and framing/composition
• Minor animation skills
• Minor modeling/UVing skills
• Knowledge of Nuke
• Skills in tracking/matchmove is a plus
• Working knowledge of shotgun is a plus
• Work well in team environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
