Your core RESPONSIBILITIES will include:
Provide support to the North American Business in project management related to the middle and long range facilities, planning, leasing, design, development and new builds
Responsible for the project management and organization of Canadian Manufacturing and Distribution facilities, including lease management, new site identification and vetting, design, and build/implementation of set up in new location.
Working with the senior leadership team in North America and the Global Director of Manufacturing, support the development and implementation of an US expansion strategy in the United States over the next 5 years.
Scope of work would include leading Project Management of an internal team, support relationships with external real estate, design and build vendors
Perform all project management activities: project planning, identifying key resources and stakeholders, coordinating activities to reach project milestones, managing team touch-points, leading regular client meetings, providing updates to internal and external stakeholders, documenting outcomes, etc.
Accountable for ensuring adherence to established project timelines, resource allocation and overall planning and budget spend
Take ownership of managing multiple expansion projects simultaneously, from defining the scope and planning up to implementation, ensuring that each project life-cycle is completed successfully
Develop and maintain client relationships so that their expectations are understood and needs fully met
Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders (both external and internal) throughout the life-cycle of the projects.
Review plan, estimate, and schedule work assignments on at new sites, or new construction projects.
Assist in the development of formal project specifications for bid purposes and review bid specifications to assure their thoroughness and accuracy in relation to approved plans.
Prepare RFP’s as required with prospective contractors and solicit formal bids; with team, review proposals and make recommendations.
Coordinate and submit payment applications for projects to assure the timely payment of work completed according to established policies and procedures.
Coordinates site visits and pre-bid, pre-construction conferences, and attend job meetings as required.
Prepare reports, maintains project records, and ensure compliance with current standards, codes and ordinances.
Required:
10+ years of related experience in Real Estate and Construction Project Management in Canada and the US specifically related to manufacturing and distribution locations . Demonstrated experience in a project lead role
Practical hands-on experience in the management of the design and construction process
Familiar with Canadian and US local and federal laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to the construction of manufacturing and distribution facilities.
Good understanding of leading sustainable practices in facility construction
Familiar with construction industry safe work practices and procedures, including cost estimating, project scheduling
Methods, materials, and equipment used in the construction industry, in the construction, repair, and remodeling of facilities.
Principles and techniques of project budget development and control.
Contract management principles including bid preparation and evaluation, contract negotiation and contract administration.
Strong budget analysis and management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to read and understand all M.E.P plans, architectural plans and structural plans
