EarthSoft, Inc. Looking for Environmental Software Developer at Windsor, ON Full Time

EQuIS is the most widely used environmental data management system in the world. EQuIS is used by many government agencies, Industrial property owners, over 300 consultants, and over 400 analytical labs around the world. Many US EPA regions, state regulatory agencies, Army Corps, and other government organizations use EQuIS. EQuIS interfaces with ArcGIS for advanced environmental decision support and data analysis.

As a Software Developer, you are a member of a product team within the EarthSoft Product Group with some experience. You learn your team’s assigned products and assist in providing product enhancements and solutions to identified bugs with the products. You are a contributing team member who follows standard operating procedures and helps the team succeed.

This is a remote, work from home position.

Responsibilities:

• Use familiar design patterns to complete solutions
• Code elegant solutions to a problem using best practices
• Consistently and diligently follow principles of secure coding
• Understand the principles of pull requests (code review), respond to comments promptly and clearly, and assist with pull requests review/approval.
• Understand problems, break them into hypotheses, and propose solutions
• Write basic queries
• Write unit tests
• Write a clear, precise, and detailed test plan
• Complete tasks in the given time and communicate any issues/changes

Requirements:

• Ability to research and resolve technical problems using a variety of resources and tools.
• Strong software application aptitude.
• Experience with VB.NET, Syncfusion, WinForms, Angular, JavaScript, HTML, SQL
• Ability to work within complex network configurations.
• Ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Clearly and effectively communicate with the appropriate channels internally and externally.
• Research and acquire pertinent information necessary to complete assigned tasks; document and distribute deliverables. Accept suggestions or criticisms relating to work.
• Take independent action to use available resources to perform assigned tasks.
• Quickly learn new information, retain this information, and apply the learned information to perform assigned tasks. Work independently on assigned tasks after being appropriately trained; proactively seek and obtain necessary training and consultations.
• Produce the expected volume of work within established timeframes. Reliably complete assigned tasks and is self-motivated, thorough, efficient, and always representing EarthSoft.
• Adhere to scheduling practices and meets assignment deadlines.
• Work well with others in a virtual environment to successfully achieve team commitments and obligations, project deliverables, product development objectives, and EarthSoft goals.
• Manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, with input from project manager and/or supervisor as needed; maintain a healthy balance of work time and personal time.
• General familiarity with Agile practices
• General knowledge of Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, Azure DevOps, Git, etc.
• EQuIS or environmental industry experience desired
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Environmental or Geological Sciences (or similar), Computer Science, Engineering, or Geography
• 2-5 years development work experience
