7Sage Looking for Elixir/Phoenix Developer at Remote Full Time

7Sage is a fast-growing company with the mission of making legal education accessible and affordable. Since our inception in 2012 as the first fully-digital LSAT prep company, we’ve built a self-paced prep course and analytics tool that’s widely cited by test-takers as the premier choice for test prep. We’ve built on our successes to become one of the biggest law school admission consulting services, and are expanding into law school prep and bar prep.

Because we’ve leveraged technology from the beginning to dramatically lower the cost of test prep services, our technical team is a crucial contributor in achieving our goal of liberating legal education. We’re currently seeking a Senior Elixir/Phoenix Developer.

Responsibilities

• Architect and create responsive, fast, and maintainable Phoenix application, loosely based on existing PHP website.
• Build reusable components
• Mentor and train teammates in Elixir and Phoenix
• Collaborate on software development design decisions

Requirements

• Extensive experience and expertise in Elixir and Phoenix
• Git version control, HTML5, CSS3
• Building maintainable web apps and components
• Developing unit tests
• Familiarity with relational databases with PostgreSQL
• Meaningful code reviews on Github
• Effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical team members

Personal Skills + Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in computer science, computer engineering or related technical discipline in N. America or UK
• 4 years minimum development experience with Elixir and Phoenix framework
• Driven to succeed in a fast pace and continuously evolving environment
• Passionate about delivering high quality software and best user experience possible
• Have a positive attitude with good interpersonal skills
• Approachable and supports others
• Solid work ethic, and takes pride in your work
