At Absorb Software, we’re passionate about building software that accelerates learning. The Site Reliability Engineer will work closely with product development and operations staff to optimize and improve the overall reliability of Absorb’s cloud-based (SaaS) LMS product suite.
We count on our Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to empower our users with a rich feature set, high availability, and stellar performance level to pursue their education. As we expand our customer deployments, we are currently seeking experienced Site Reliability Engineers to deliver insights from analytical data in real-time.
Specifically, we are searching for someone who brings fresh ideas, shows a unique and informed viewpoint, and enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions and positive user experiences at every interaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health.
• Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications.
• Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions.
• Measure and optimize system performance, to push our capabilities forward, get ahead of customer needs, and continually improve uptime.
• Supply primary operational support and engineering for multiple large, distributed software applications.
• Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding.
• Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.
• Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
• Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts.
• Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives.
• Other ad hoc duties as required.

Key Requirements:
Minimum Requirements

• Completed Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferably computer science.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect accreditation is preferred
• Minimum 7 years of work experience in software development, IT or similar field.
• Minimum 2 years of work experience in a site reliability engineering or cloud engineering role.
• Expert knowledge of AWS, Windows Server Administration, Microsoft SQL Server, IIS
• Demonstrated ability to automate using knowledge of AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Demonstrated ability to script with PowerShell.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and optimize web applications.
• Demonstrated ability to balance urgency, sound decision-making and careful execution.
• Some knowledge of .NET, C#, and the Microsoft technology stack is preferred.
