We are looking to hire a .5 FTE Kindergarten teacher. This individual would work over a 6-month period, ending in June with the possibility of staying on.
The role of the Kindergarten Teacher is to develop, coordinate, implement, monitor and evaluate the programming for each student in collaboration with the educational assistants and specialists.
Morning classes run Monday to Thursday 8:45am to 11:30am. Fridays are scheduled for preparation, team collaboration, staff meetings and IPP prep/meetings.
Responsibilities:
· Coordinate and oversee your students programming and instruction including PUF program components in collaboration with the clinical team
· Follow the Kindergarten Program Statement, Kindergarten Curriculum and all other ECS related Alberta Education regulations
· Provide direct and individualized instruction in all academic areas following our comprehensive literacy and numeracy program.
· Collaborate with the child’s specialized services team (as appropriate) supporting the common approach of PUF programming
· Manage IPPs; host IPP meetings for each student
· Collaborate with SLP, OT and EAs for individual and group programming
· Work collaboratively with parents on their child’s respective goals, plans and challenges
· Complete reports, assessments and IPP’s as required
· Promote an inclusive education environment that helps each child realize their full potential
· Promote the school’s academic, and individualized Christian program, attending school fairs, school meetings, or others as required
Qualifications:
– Certified Alberta teacher
– Knowledge and understanding of: Developmental behavioural interventions for preschool and school aged children and principles of child development.
· Excellent interpersonal and time management skills and the ability to work in a team atmosphere
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Excellent organizational skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Demonstrated intervention skills
· Demonstrated supervision skills
· Assumes initiative for own personal development
· Computer training, knowledge and experience in the following computer software applications
· MS Office Professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Clean criminal records check
· Clean intervention check
· Maintain registration with a professional body as applicable
A competitive salary is provided based on qualifications and experience.
