Job Description PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand the Tender and its requirements
- Determine key variables for cost and other estimates
- Gather first-hand information from site visits and peers
- Use Excel and other software for data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting
- Obtain and review offers and quotes from suppliers
- Compare and match products from different suppliers for cost efficient options
- Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, etc.)
- Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, etc.)
- Prepare project documentation for all projects
- Understand construction contracts (CCDC)
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Periodic travel is required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3-years’ experience as an Estimator on industrial/ commercial projects
- High school diploma, Architectural Technologist/ Estimating courses/ Diploma
- Software skills such as Planswift, Bluebeam are an asset
- Experience working with Procore is an asset
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Valid Ontario G license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Excellence in building rapport and creating a team
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Review the project’s specs carefully to ensure accurate scheduling and costing
- Ability to read blueprints and provide accurate drawings, scope of work and instructions to the Construction Manager and/or the Technician crews
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to determine potential risks while devising proactive ways to solve them
- Willingness to adapt to new concepts
- Excellence in the budgeting of financial resources
- Ability to welcome feedback and use it to improve the quality of production
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willing to complete an internal testing exercise
