Action Car and Truck Accessories is Canada’s leading car and truck accessory retailer and distributor for both the private and industry sectors. With our head office in Moncton, New Brunswick, we have 41 stores, 3 distribution centers and hundreds of wholesale customers across Canada. We are currently seeking a Distribution Center Manager to join our Edmonton team.
The Distribution Centre Manager leads the DC team to ensure all DC operations are performed efficiently and effectively while meeting customer-focused targets. The DC Manager is responsible for all aspects of staffing including recruiting, managing, scheduling, disciplining and Health and Safety of DC employees.
Responsibilities
· Manage all aspects of the Distribution Center in accordance with company policies
· Ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are properly maintained
· Ensure that standard systems are properly maintained
· Assess the availability of space and prepare storage plans prior to programming/contingency commodity arrivals
· Supervise the receipt of all arriving shipments
· Monitor quality and quantity of products stored and shipped
· Complete regular physical (both random and scheduled) checks of distribution center inventory
· Assist DC team with shipper/receiver duties of a shipper/receiver as needed, including lifting up to 75lbs
· Possess the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, and establish a harmonious and effective work relationships both within and outside the organization
· Ensure that all company policies are followed
· Hire and schedule employees, address disciplinary issues and terminate when needed
· Implement new policies and operating procedures when they are rolled out
· Lead safety initiatives and ensure a consistently safe work environment
· Identify and implement continuous process improvements
Education
· University level Business Administration, Management, Transport, Engineering or related field considered an asset
· Experience in distribution center management and/or familiarity with logistics accounting procedures in lieu of formal experience is acceptable
Qualifications
· Proven analytical and distribution center management abilities
· Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail
· Ability to implement training, motivate and manage large group of people.
· Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
· Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
· Knowledge of industry best practices
· Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
