Adecco is currently hiring an General Account for our client in fashion industry, they provide women and men with the most exquisite leathers and materials in their carefully curated collection of jackets, bags, wallets and more. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, have high level of confidentiality, and problem-solver looking to join a growing team in Fashion in Vaughan Ontario.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Perform bank reconciliations to General Ledger, investigate and resolve discrepancies and assist with cash management activities as required
• Prepare monthly tax filings for provincial and federal governments
• Analyze PST exempt and discount transactions, and identify and follow up discrepancies with Director of Retail Sales and Operations
• Assist in preparation and posting of journal entries and perform account analyses
• Oversee and assist with biweekly payroll processing and perform data verification to ensure wage and commission payment accuracy; act as backup to Payroll Coordinator in event of absence; verify accuracy of calculation, accrual and reconciliation of month-end payroll accruals and related payroll and benefit accounting activities; assist with year-end payroll-related activities and T4 preparation
• Process accounts payable invoices, ensuring proper backup, authorization and payment terms adherence
• Provide outstanding service to internal departments, stores and Company employees with a sense of urgency and responsiveness and a high level of attention to detail in investigating and replying to information requests
• Prepare feasibility analysis for proposed new store locations and lease renewals using established template for review
• Recommend improvements to Finance practices and systems to improve efficiency and productivity
• Participate in special projects, and perform other related duties and assignments as required.
What you bring to the team:
• Equivalent of post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting, bookkeeping, business or finance-oriented field of study with a knowledge of accrual accounting, general accounting and financial analysis
• 3 to 5 years of relevant full-cycle accounting experience working in a small-to-medium size entrepreneurial business with focus on account reconciliations, payroll, and cash accounting; previous retail exposure an asset
• Knowledge of Canadian payroll-related legislation and practices required; exposure to PayWeb an asset
• Proficient computer skills with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and V-lookups; knowledge of macros is an asset
• Fluent English written and verbal communication skills essential
• Quick learner with ability to solve problems, use critical thinking and apply sound judgment in resolving problems and escalating to senior management when necessary
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player with Finance, management and retail staff
• High degree of discretion and confidentiality with mature judgment and integrity critical in safeguarding sensitive information
• Demonstrated high degree of work organization and attention to detail
• Self-motivated with strong initiative and ability to work independently or as a team player
• Demonstrates a sense of ownership and responsibility in task completion and follow up of commitments
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, transition between tasks and flexible to adapt quickly to changing priorities while working under pressure and within time constraints to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
