AECOM ‘s Environment team is actively seeking an Environmental Scientist to be based in either Burnaby, BC and/or Calgary, AB. A strong researcher with an understanding of statistics and data collection and analysis to support socio-economics discipline for both federal and provincial impact assessments. As the successful candidate, you will contribute to projects by applying your qualitative and quantitative research skills and your topical knowledge. You will work closely with the Impact Assessment and Permitting team to carry out projects. As a motivated research analyst, you will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and to grow personally and professionally through mentorship and professional development.
We are seeking a highly motivated and accountable candidate that can work collaboratively with other team members and is an effective communicator. Strong organizational skills and an ability to work well collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are essential qualities.
As part of our team, the successful applicant will work on various environmental projects, and will contribute to deliverables required throughout a project life cycle, including:
Perform quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
Develop data collection instruments; collect data from surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations and document review; and clean, structure and analyze data
Summarize findings through statistical analysis, with data visualizations tools and in writing that are clear and relevant
Contribute to development of reports and other deliverables
Assist with project scheduling and coordination tasks
Contribute to proposal development
Minimum Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g., community members, program staff, leadership) is considered an asset
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
Strong computer literacy skills, including high proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications, database management and statistical packages.
Ability to set priorities, work under pressure, deliver high quality products and meet deadlines.
