AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our growing Environmental Remediation team in Markham, ON.
This position is a full time role and is expected to begin in October 2022 .
Job Description:
Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies develop technical solutions to complex problems.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, provincial and national regulations to ensure compliance. Work is performed with minimal direction.
Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Responsible for advanced duties and activities in their specialized functional area.
Conducts research and does investigation work as required.
Plans and organizes project studies.
Assists in the resolution of conflicting technical information and unsuitability of standard procedures.
Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems.
May oversee the work of less experienced scientists.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline – Civil, Environmental, etc.
4+ years of experience in Environmental Remediation including Phase II ESA and soil and groundwater remediation technologies.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years project management experience in environmental remediation including drilling, large scale excavations and other remedial field activities.
Valid Certified Environmental Technologist (CET) designation or Association of Professional Geoscientists (APGO) Certification (Ontario) or, Professional Engineer (P. Eng).
Experience with remediation contractors and construction oversight.
Thorough knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations.
Thorough understanding of remediation processes, instrumentation and equipment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment; excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to lead large assignments and work well in a team environment.
Working knowledge of environmental, health & safety regulations.
