Our client, a construction management company, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their vibrant team. They have been in the industry for over 35 years and is known for being one of the largest contractors across Western Canada.
Job Description:
The Senior Accountant works closely with the financial controller along with the rest of the finance team. The professional is responsible for month-end and year-end closing procedures with an emphasis on monthly financial reporting, inter-company reconciliations, and preparation and filing of GST and PST returns. Public company experience may be an asset.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Prepare the monthly and annual financial statement packages of the entities within the company along with related support & backup
- Lead the coordination of annual financial statement sign-off with external accountants and internal management
- Implement and maintain financial reporting procedures to comply with internal and external reporting deadlines and requirements
- Perform continuous assessment of the month-end close process to reduce the timing required to close the financial period
- Emphasis on financial reporting along with inter-company reconciliations, preparation and filing of GST and PST returns
- Daily cash management and participate in other projects as required.
Required:
- CPA Certification
- Thorough knowledge of APSE and IFRS
- Solid communication, technology, organizational and analytical skills
- Knowledge of federal and provincial taxes
- Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
- BC Driver’s License (preferred)
- Experience within the construction/real estate development industry is preferred
- Accounting in the construction industry: 8 years (preferred)
