Responsible for managing the planning, continuous development and implementation of compensation programs and HR policies to ensure alignment to Air Canada’s compensation philosophy and practices. This includes the delivery of base compensation, job evaluation, Minimum Entry Rates, etc. This role will also have the responsibility to ensure HR policies are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations.

• Develop the strategy, design and implementation of HR owned and compensation specific policies, programs and processes to ensure our approach is innovative, competitive, aligning with Company objectives and support the organization’s talent management.
• Manage the design, implementation and administration of base compensation guidelines and programs while ensuring consistency with compensation trends and the Company’s compensation philosophy and business objectives.
• Leverage, develop and manage base compensation programs on a proactive basis to support Branches in motivating and recognizing employees, as well as driving performance.
• Provide guidance and recommendations for Director, Human Resources, Manager, Human Resources and Talent Acquisition team on pay decisions to attract, motivate and retain top talent.
• Lead a range of compensation reviews to align the business strategies to AC’s compensation philosophy.
• Perform job evaluations, convey the justification behind the assessment of the position and ensure alignment with our Career Band philosophy and profiles.
• Manage relationships with internal departments within Global Human Resources.
• Maintain awareness/knowledge of industry and legislative developments

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in related field or HR certificate or equivalent experience
• HR Professional designation or CCP designation, an asset
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of compensation knowledge and experience.
• Proven ability to work with others at all levels using tact and discretion. Must be able to explain, clarify and defend conclusions reached and to present facts clearly both verbally and in writing
• Strong effective communicator in writing, business presentations and interpersonal communication
• Certification in Project Management by a recognized project management organization, an asset
• Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality
• Strong analytical ability and competent spreadsheet and database skills
• Highly autonomous with solid organization and work planning abilities; highly adaptable to shifting priorities
