Senior Cloud Architect (End-Point)

The Opportunity

The Cloud Operations and Design team focuses on designing and operating the AER Cloud environment deployed in Microsoft Azure and completing deployments of complex solutions into the environment. This environment includes, but is not limited to; O365, servers (IaaS), DBaaS, functions, containers and container orchestration platforms, messaging and integration technologies.

The Senior Cloud Architect(End-Point) will report to the Manager, Cloud Solutions and will be tasked with guiding the design, implementation, management, and support of the Azure environment with a focus on end users, end user services (Microsoft SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams) and end point devices (Microsoft Endpoint Manager). The candidate will contribute to the development and maturity of the Azure environment, help to support existing deployments, and design and manage on-premises systems including Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager as well as new Cloud services. A strong focus will be placed on cloud and Windows client lifecycle management, automation, industry best-practices, and ensuring the security and protection of data in the cloud environment and end point devices.

AER has created a multi-year roadmap for addressing IT needs focusing heavily on increasing cloud capabilities and retiring legacy systems. This candidate will assist the AER in building these capabilities and moving the organization towards the desired future state.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Create and implement complex solutions in the AER cloud environment to meet business needs

• Create and maintain AER Cloud Operations standards

• Work with stakeholders throughout AER Information Management and Technology to ensure proper solutions are implemented to optimize cloud usage

• Work with application developers and architects to ensure native-cloud applications follow best-practices

• Attend and present solutions at AER architectural and change management review meetings

• Ensure optimal performance, reliability, availability, and security of the company’s data by continuously monitoring the Azure environment with close attention to costing and performance

• Create and maintain reports for the Manager, Cloud Design & Operations to track Microsoft Azure costs

• Assist in the yearly budgeting process for Microsoft Azure

• Prioritize and manage multiple high priority activities and provide creative and effective solutions to problems rapidly, on an ongoing basis

• Increase the agility and reduce manual effort using automation

• Work with internal AER Information Management and Technology teams and business sections to develop, implement and maintain effective end point solutions, standards and governance

• Mentor junior Cloud Operations and end point support team members to empower them to play a larger role in building and supporting the AER environment

• Create and maintain documentation for solutions both for internal cloud team use and for tier 1/2 support teams as required

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent education and 10 years’ experience in IT support positions.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting Microsoft Azure and O365

• Microsoft Azure certification (Preferred certifications Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect and DevOps Expert)

• Good analytical skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Customer-focused and strong interpersonal skills including leading others.

• Ability to work cross functional stakeholders in IMT and business.

• Strong communications skills, both written and verbal, to positively influence and work collaboratively with IT and business teams.

Demonstrated knowledge/familiarity in the following areas preferred:

• Microsoft Azure cloud administration and design

• Operating Systems including Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, RHEL, and Ubuntu Linux

• Microsoft server services including Active Directory, DNS and Group Policy

• Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager including Installation and Configuration, package deployment, compliance, RBAC, and task sequences

• Experience with managing and maintaining a Windows client environment including the deployment of Windows Feature Updates

• Experience with managing Azure IaaS technologies including VM’s, VM Scale Sets, and Networking

• Experience with Azure hosted end user focused services including Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams

• Experience working with PowerShell and other scripting languages

• Experience with Application Packaging including InstallShield and Microsoft App-V

• Experience with cloud-native application designe.

• Experience building and deploying complex ARM templates.

• Experience with Azure DevOps, including Azure Pipelines.
