System Performance and Innovation (SPI) is the provincial team responsible for data, analytics and reporting for AHS EMS. The team is a part of EMS’ Clinical Compliance Training and Standards (CCTS) provincial team that also includes staff education and quality and patient safety in its mandate. The Senior Performance Strategist reports to an SPI manager. This is a senior role within the team and is expected to be an expert resource that will provide: Assistance and expert advice with strategic planning and operational leadership, including the identification of needs and opportunities. A key contact point for SPI’s customers within EMS and AHS more generally and able to provide advice and influence to these stakeholders. Leadership in the development and monitoring of EMS operational and clinical performance measures. Leadership in development and implementation of data collection, analytical methodologies and reporting processes utilizing EMS datasets and other datasets available in AHS (HR, Finance, AHSDRR, etc.). Development and implementation of prehospital quality patient care indicators and the related patient outcome measures. Leadership in the development of EMS’ BI tool to support regular, ad hoc and self-serve reporting. This is an SAP Business Objects platform that integrates EMS Dispatch and Patient Care Record data. Provide leadership and advice in the use and application of other AHS data visualization tools such as Tableau.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum of a baccalaureate degree in Health, Sciences or Business Administration. Minimum of 5 years experience in analytical, performance improvement, program evaluation, quality assurance, research or similar role(s), ideally in an EMS or health organization of substantial size, complexity and diversity. Expert knowledge and skill in computer systems, databases, and database reporting. Analytical skills including knowledge of data querying and reporting fundamentals are required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Proven ability to synthesize and communicate (written and verbal) large amounts of information from multiple sources. Team leadership, project management and customer engagement skills are required. Demonstrated a clear pattern of professional and personal development.
Preferred Qualifications:
Training and experience in the provision or support of front-line clinical care would be considered a strong asset. Knowledge and expertise in clinical information systems, including metrics and modelling would be considered a strong asset. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
