Alberta Health Services (AHS) Health Information Management (HIM) is seeking an experienced and innovative healthcare leader for the role of Director, South Zone and Domain Lead for Access and Disclosure (AD) and Dictation, Speech Recognition, Transcription (DST). Supporting a culture of diversity, excellence, integrity, efficiency, quality, and innovation, you will work closely with the Senior Provincial Director, Executive Director, Zone Directors and HIM Centre of Expertise to advance the vision of a data driven eHIM© service to support healthcare delivery. You will facilitate the adoption of provincial standards in alignment with Connect Care while identifying challenges and opportunities for optimization. You possess a proven track record showing ability to achieve agreed-upon outcomes and performance measures, promoting continuous improvement. This role will play a critical role in the development and implementation of evaluation strategies and operational plans for short- and long-term goals of Health Information Management. You will possess a strong people centred focus and demonstrate your commitment to LEADS in a caring environment as you help your teams navigate through significant workforce transformation in alignment with the implementation of Connect Care. Using exceptional and demonstrated leadership skills, you will ensure operations supports the pursuit of excellence in the support of patient-focused clinical care. With a diverse provincial and zone-based team of almost 300 FTE, both union and non-union, this role requires strong leadership skills with an emphasis on relationship management and be accustomed to working in a complex healthcare environment. This leadership role reports to the Executive Director, HIM Operational Practice. Please Note: This position may be based anywhere in Alberta, with a preference for South Zone.
Reporting into the Executive Director, HIM Operational Practice, this role will be critical in the development and implementation of evaluation strategies and operational plans for short- and long-term goals of Health Information Management as it transitions to a data driven eHIM© service and embraces a transformational journey for its workforce in alignment with the introduction of Connect Care.
Required Qualifications:
Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) certified and/or a bachelor’s degree in health or related field. Equivalency of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 6 to 8 years in a management role related to delivery of health services in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Demonstrate a clear pattern of professional and personal development with a proven track record in health leadership. Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility, while maintaining momentum in a rapidly changing environment. Be an excellent communicator with ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst multiple stakeholders; ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including public agencies, government, boards, committees, AHS Leadership, medical staff, IT, employees, and other partners. Strong leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities. Strategic thinking, considering long-term goals while assessing options and implications. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Experience in the delivery of Access and Disclosure and Dictation/Transcription services would be considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:
PROSCI™ Certification. LEADS in a Caring Environment program completion. Master’s degree in health or related field. Knowledge and understanding of the Health Information Act (HIA) and other relevant provincial and federal legislations Experience developing strategic direction and vision. Operational management experience/skills, including budgetary and people management. Experience developing business or program processes, policies, and procedures.
