You’re an experienced, dynamic, and innovative human resources leader who can provide expertise and lead the delivery of full-cycle HR services in Alberta Health Services’ (AHS’) to the more than 21,000 staff and leaders across the Edmonton Zone. As Director, HRBP, Edmonton Zone you will contribute to and make key HR decisions, address numerous challenges and opportunities, and deliver high quality operational and strategic Human Resources services as part of the broader provincial HR Business Partnerships team and in alignment with our organizational strategic goals and Our People Strategy. The Director, HR Business Partnerships, Edmonton Zone is a key leadership role that provides direct support and expert counsel to AHS Leadership Teams within the zone on all aspects of human resources. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, HR Business Partnerships for Clinical Operations, you will build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to act as a change agent to positively influence the ongoing evolution of the HR team aligned with organizational priorities, direction, and evolving best practices including the Operational HR Strategy and Our People Strategy. This role leads and enables integrated, consistent, and high-quality HRBP services in the zone in coordination and collaboration with other HR leaders and Centres of Expertise across AHS. As the Director, you will provide leadership to a team of HRBP professionals providing full-cycle HR support as you set the framework for HR programs and service delivery within the Zone and provide input to the province-wide HRBP portfolio in alignment with the mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives of AHS. In this role, you’ll develop, implement, and evaluate short and long-term strategic and operational plans, strategies, and processes with an emphasis on continuous improvement. You will need to effectively manage human, capital, and financial resources within a complex, blended environment of unionized and non-unionized employees in alignment with organizational goals.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a baccalaureate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or other related field is required. A minimum of 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity, with five (5) years in a leadership role. Labour relations experience in a unionized environment is also required. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.

Strong consulting skills, with the ability to foster a climate of cooperation and collaboration amongst, and build solid relationships with, other internal HR portfolios/services, operational leaders, and other partners. Strong and effective leadership skills, with a focus on building a high-performing team. The ability to mentor, coach, inspire and build confidence and resilience in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues both within Human Resources and in support of the wider organization. Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment. Practical experience in strategy development and implementation, policy development, and project management within a large organization. Demonstrated research, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Demonstrated a clear pattern of professional and personal development.
