Description:
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum five years of in-patient and community addiction & mental health nursing experience with demonstrated knowledge, skill and ability in the care of patients with concurrent disorders. (Experience may be considered). Excellent assessment skills with demonstrated knowledge of key components of a comprehensive addiction and mental health assessment. Knowledge of risk assessment and management, including knowledge of trauma informed care. Demonstrated knowledge of the assessment and management of co-morbid medical disorders and the principles of chronic disease management and recovery are required. Demonstrated knowledge of the application of the Mental Health Act. Knowledge of AHS Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care Edmonton Zone and related program policy, procedures and guidelines. Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills as well as excellence in written and verbal communication, and group facilitation skills. Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, critical thinking and initiative essential. Ability to prioritize and meet competing demands/requirements. Strong medical competencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of previous leadership experience. Advanced Microsoft Office skills and proficiency with MS Outlook.
