As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you will evaluate and identify learning needs, provide ongoing education, mentorship and support for nursing staff within the medicine program at GPRH. The methods by which this will be offered will include classroom type settings, on unit roving, and demonstrations with hands on participation with the delivery of patient care. This position collaborates with the leadership team around quality improvement strategies and facilitates appropriate educational activities, functioning as a positive change agent. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrates fluency in adult acute care medicine skills and certifications. Demonstrates competence with Connect Care, navigating and documentation. Demonstrates competence with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel. Experience in teaching adult learners, proficient in adult learning principles. Demonstrates knowledge about AHS and department policies and procedures and applies them appropriately. 5 years acute care experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years acute general medicine experience.
