Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Previous Pre-Admission Clinic experience. Minimum typing requirement of 36 word/min. 5 years recent experience on a surgical or day surgery unit required. Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessment skills. Demonstrated strong critical thinking abilities. Ability to manage in a multi-faceted clinic through efficient time-management and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required (both written and verbal). Ability to work well as part of a large multi-service team. Effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, verbal, and written means, in a professional and mature manner required. Proficiency in computer skills required. Expertise using the Windows environment and communication using AHS email required. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and independence of nursing practice in a multidisciplinary team environment. Ability to sit and/or stand while working for extended periods of time. Proficient typing skills. Ability to provide CPR as a single rescuer for a short extended period required. (minimum 15 minutes).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a preoperative assessment clinic or outpatient clinic preferred. Patient teaching experience preferred. Knowledge and use of SCM, Netcare, OACCS, and Connect Care preferred.
