Description:
An Occupational Injury Advisor oversees the life of an occupational injury or illness claim following submission of the claim to full return to work. The primary objective while managing a claim is a safe and timely return to work, as this promotes physical and psychological well-being. This position also must meet legislated requirement to submit to WCB when an AHS employee becomes ill or injured during the course of their work, as well as a Duty to Cooperate with WCB and employees on timely return to work. Occupational Injury Advisors also participate in Workplace Accommodations.

Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a post-secondary related degree/diploma/certificate, plus appropriate licenses and designations. A minimum of 3 years in claims management; ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.

Proven abilities in complex problem solving, concerns resolution, investigation, and negotiation. Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities. Experience in initiating and fostering positive relationships and partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders in alignment with our vision and values. Ability to deal with highly complex or sensitive issues in a professional manner. Considerable skill are needed to balance diverse and occasionally, conflicting stakeholder interests. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, time management, influential skills, client focused orientation, and commitment to providing quality services. Ability to relay or explain complex issues or challenging situations. Excellent time management and ability to prioritize daily work. Ability to work effectively in a complex and dynamic work environment. Ability to work independently. Excellent communication skills both verbal/written.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated pattern of personal and professional development. Disability management certificate would be an asset. Additional course work in occupational health, rehabilitation, legislation related to claims management, helping relationship skills, mediation, human resource management, disability insurance, psychological and workplace factors in claims management would be an asset.
