The Finance department has an opportunity for a co-operative education student to support the Revenue department with project work. Under the supervision of the manager and mentoring by senior financial analysts, this 8-month term position is responsible for work that improves the process and reporting of revenue and restricted funding. Department Description The Revenue department ensures that revenues are accurately accounted for and reported on AHS’ financial statements, and that the financial sections of grant agreements with various funding agencies are compliant with AHS policies and standards. We work closely with stakeholders and the funding agencies to resolve issues that arise at any point of the revenue cycle, and to ensure compliance with any restrictions imposed by the revenue grant agreements. We also assist in the development the AHS’ financial plan through accurate revenue budgeting and forecasting and analysis of risks associated with various revenue sources. This position starts January 3, 2023 and ends September 1, 2023.
Assist manager and senior financial analysts with Revenue projects that include but not limited to the following: Complex revenue reconciliations. Review the financial aspect of complex revenue contracts and grant proposals to ensure compliance with AHS policies and standards. Facilitate the approval process of grant agreements and proposals by coordinating the review by multiple departments within AHS. Act as a liaison between multiple departments to communicate the status and/or issues with a contract. Prepare journal entries. Prepare year-end working papers. Ad-hoc tasks and duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Enrolment in a supervised co-operative education program. Completion of 2 or 3 years of university in Business Administration.

Strong critical thinking, written, and oral communication skills. Very strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills. Resourceful self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively on a given task. Strong attention to detail and good organization skills. Ability to multi-task and work with multiple priorities. Strong interpersonal skills to provide a high level of customer service to internal clients. Interest in process improvement. Basic understanding of accounting is required.
