Reporting to the Executive Director – HRSS, the Senior Advisor – Client Relations is a senior professional role within HRSS and is responsible for supporting a variety of HRSS programs and business processes within the People Portfolio. A key responsibility of this role is liaising with HR Business Partnerships (HRBP) to deliver human resource services that support Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) leaders, managers and staff. The Senior HR Advisor also provides consultative advice and support for process issues, Memorandum of Settlements and Grievance Resolutions processing.
This position is responsible and accountable for leading the development of provincially integrated HR business processes for AHS and APL employees by working collaboratively with numerous provincial workgroups, HRBP, HR CoE’s and HRSS thereby ensuring processes, programs and decisions align with corporate policies, provincial and federal legislation and collective agreements. The Senior Advisor – Client Relations has extensive knowledge and expertise in HR, Employee Relations (ER) and Labour Relations (LR) best practices and policies, is able to highlight areas of risk and dependencies with current processes and can identify opportunities for process improvements across HR Shared Services. This role must be able to assess the impact of new processes and service changes on internal and external stakeholders and help develop guidelines and communication plans/strategies for HRSS, HRBP and the employees of AHS and its subsidiaries as required.
Required Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related area is required with 5 years in a senior HR generalist role or HR shared services environment in a large, complex organization. Demonstrated critical thinking skills with the ability to apply a broad lens on issues and processes that impact many stakeholders (both internal and external). Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.

Demonstrated ability to manage change, be adaptable, prioritize and multitask while working independently and in collaboration with others in a fast-paced and progressive environment. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills as well as demonstrated research and decision-making skills. Strong project management skills. Knowledge of Human Capital Management (HCM) systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPHR or other recognized designation. Previous experience within a health care-based organization in a human resources capacity is preferred.
