The Senior Financial Analyst is a supporting role within Business Advisory Services. This role is accountable for the delivery, integration and evaluation of finance processes, solutions and services to an identified client group, ensuring they align with, and support AHS provincial approaches, organization priorities and direction and evolving best practices. On the direction of Finance and BAS Leadership, the Senior Financial Analyst will provide finance and business systems expertise and day-to-day tactical support to organizational projects and initiatives; and act as the main point of contact for an identified client group while supporting a values-based approach for people, decision-making, and support the achievement of identified goals and objectives related to our people and contributing to the achievement of the AHS vision. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible and accountable in the preparation, delivery and evaluation of financial results and processes, providing budgeting support, as well as finance/business advice to an identified client group in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. The Senior Financial Analyst works effectively within a team environment, providing leadership, support, coaching/mentoring, and expert counsel to colleagues and co-workers on all aspects of financial operations. The position required a client focused individual with the ability to create strong partnerships with various organizational stakeholders.
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for reporting and interpreting complex financial and statistical information to support senior level management, operating portfolios and external reporting requirements. Your responsibilities include in-depth analysis; reporting related to financial statements and other cyclical activity; responding to audit requests; development, input, maintenance and monitoring of departmental budgets; policy, procedure and internal controls interpretation, development and enhancement; and coaching and mentoring to Financial Analysts and entry level staff members.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of post-secondary diploma in Accounting or related field (e.g. Economics, Statistics).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of four (4) years of accounting or financial experience. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills. The ability to think and act strategically and systematically. Work with minimum supervision. Ability to meet defined deadlines. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of the team. Intermediate MS Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field. Working towards or completion of a professional accounting/ finance designation or MBA. Financial experience in a Health Care environment. Strong working knowledge of Oracle & Hyperion applications. Experience providing financial advice to leadership positions.
