The Social Work Department at Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital is actively committed to a psychologically safe and inclusive work environment. Working as a part of an interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker III facilitates the adjustment of clients/patients and families to the psychosocial results of medical conditions and mental health issues in a geriatric patient population. Duties include providing client care including assessment, intervention, education, advocacy, resource finding, consultation and discharge planning for patients and their families within assigned programs/units. The Social Worker III is responsible for co-facilitating CBT-based psychodynamic groups with inpatients and one on one clinical follow up. The person in this position may also participate in non-client care activities including resource development, evaluation, quality improvement, and staff development. Responsibilities include participation in activities and initiatives aimed at promoting, maintaining, and improving quality and safety for patients, families and caregivers. Current assignment is to the Geriatric Psychiatry Unit.
As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).
Required Qualifications:
Completion of master’s degree in Social Work. (equivalent education or experience may be considered). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills are required. Proficiency in family assessment/intervention and demonstrated familiarity with community resources in mental health support services are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters of Social Work preferred. Knowledge of decision-making capacity assessment process and relevant legislation. A minimum of two years post-degree experience is preferred. Experience in a mental health treatment setting is preferred. Group work skills are a definite asset. Strong working knowledge of CBT. Connect Care experience is an asset.
