Come join our long term care team! Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre is seeking a Unit Clerk for temporary employment (approximately 1.5 year). As the Unit Clerk, you are a central support of our team and the residents on the units. The responsibilities and functions of the Unit Clerk include but are not limited to: Computer/administrative duties, use of computer systems- site is currently using connect care (EMR), Processing orders as requested by Physicians and Nursing staff, answering phones and directing calls. Assisting long term care residents, may include portering and feeding of the residents at our LTC site. Successful candidate will be required to work from 0700-1515, scheduled hours may change. Please Note: This position is located outside of the Calgary city limits (100 km south of Calgary city limits), 80 Km north of Lethbridge.
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk/Medical Office Assistant course. Experience working in a continuing care setting. Must have good computer skills and knowledge of programs like Outlook and Microsoft Office and Connect care (which is our new EMR). Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with patients/clients, families, visitors and team members. Well-developed time management skills. Ability to handle the physical demands of the position: pushing wheelchairs, sitting occasionally for longer amounts of time, answering phones, lifting supplies, assisting residents.
Preferred Qualifications:
Medical terminology course.
