This is an exciting opportunity for a Unit Clerk in the Seniors Mental Health program at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury (CCMHBI) in Ponoka. Located in Ponoka, the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury is a state of the art facility with national and international recognition. It’s not a traditional hospital, but rather a facility that provides specialized mental health and brain injury treatment and care. The campus of specialists and health professionals at CCMHBI are committed to integrated, multidisciplinary care and treatment ensuring the best outcomes for patients and their families. This position requires a highly motivated individual that is interested in working with people. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are large contributors to success in this position. As a Unit Clerk, you will be instrumental in facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients and families. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative task, which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals. You will also maintain patient records, and charts, process physician orders as well as schedule patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities such as recording and transcribing meeting minutes, and requisitioning of office and patient care supplies. You will have the ability to work cooperatively within a team environment and demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Unit Clerk is a coordinator and a central source of information and record keeping relating to the activities, communication and service for the patients on the nursing unit.
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
