Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity for a Unit Clerk in their Emergency/Outpatients Department! Wetaskiwin Emergency Department (ED) is a 22 bed unit. As a Unit Clerk in our ED and member of our multidisciplinary care team, your experience will be valuable in our busy department. You will also demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our patients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide support to the physicians, nursing staff, and the patients we serve. You may also be required to share your skills and experience on the acute care units. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. The city name comes from the Cree word which means “the hills where peace was made”. You can take a self-guided tour through the historic downtown and read about the peace cairn that commemorates sixty years of peace between the Blackfoot and the Cree. Wetaskiwin has an extensive trail system that leads you around the entire city with a direct connection to By-the-Lake Park. Year round markets provide citizens and visitors with fresh fruit, produce and many different homemade items. The Manluk Centre offers swim lessons, Fitness programs and Aquatic Leadership courses, as well as party facilities. There’s always something to do in Wetaskiwin!
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
