Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Fluent in SCM & Clinibase. Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team. Excellent time management and prioritization skills. Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of the CoAct components and collaborative care in the acute care setting. One year acute care, medical and surgical experience (within the last two years).
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills – Knowledgeable of Microsoft office and Excel. Demonstrated ability to successfully establish relationships with both patients and families and engage them in their care.
