Alberta Precision Labs (APL) has a rewarding opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) to join our team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Here you will perform all aspects of specimen preparation and testing. Additional duties include quality control, equipment troubleshooting and maintenance, student teaching, patient records management and computer functions. You understand and maintain a working knowledge of analytics techniques and demonstrate excellent problem solving, decision making and trouble-shooting skills. This role will provide you the opportunity to utilize your understanding of quality control theory and application, and operating, maintaining and troubleshooting hematology, coagulation and chemistry analyzers. This is a fast-paced role where you will get to utilize your organization and time management skills. You are an organized worker, a strong team player and you’re committed to providing quality patient care, utilizing your communication and interpersonal skills to deal courteously and tactfully with team members and other APL and Alberta Health Services Staff. You are approachable, reliable and can listen, comprehend and orally respond to or relay information, directions or questions in person, over the phone or in writing in an accurate and clear concise manner.
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience operating, maintaining and troubleshooting hematology, coagulation and chemistry analyzers. Computer literacy and keyboarding skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Sysmex XN Hematology analyzers, IL ACL TOP Coagulation analyzers, Roche c503 and e801 Chemistry analyzers performing differentials, CSF and Fluid analysis and Cellavision. Experience training students and new staff members. Proficiency with the Epic/Beaker Laboratory Information Systems and general computer applications.
