Job Description
The incumbent is required to properly prepare, cook, store and serve all menu items featured in the Short Order area of Marketplace Food Court, following established Food Services specifications, while maintaining order and cleanliness throughout the shift Preparation of breakfast, lunch, and dinner mise en place following all proper food safety and Algonquin College Food Service procedures and policies.
Offers exceptional, prompt and friendly service to customers ordering from the counter. As this is a closing position, the employee will ensure all food is properly stored in compliance with the station standard operating procedure, and all equipment is properly cleaned.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares menu items as ordered by customers and ensures the accurate identification of same;
- Ensures proper temperatures are maintained throughout the shift for hot and cold foods;
- Ensures all food items are properly stored during the shift;
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment throughout the shift;
- Ensures hot food cabinets and display areas are kept impeccably clean and tidy;
- throughout the shift and all POS material is up to date and in clean condition;
- Transfers required product from storage to the Short Order Area as needed for the next day;
- Prepares and stocks ingredients for a la carte service.
Required Qualifications
- Secondary School (Grade 12) diploma;
- Minimum one (1) year experience in a high volume food service related industry;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi task;
- Ability to work independently and/or in a team atmosphere;
- Ability to work effectively under pressure;
- Ability of providing speedy, efficient, courteous and tactful service;
- Ability to lift, bend, push, pull.

Anticipated Weekly Schedule
Monday to Friday 11:00am – 7:30pm
This is a 10 (ten) month position with an annual lay off period of 2 months in a calendar year.
The position completes a 40-hour work week
