The collection agent will be responsible for making collections calls for accounts receivable in accordance with the firm’s policy, following up on accounts receivable with lawyers, communicating with clients who have late bill payments by ensuring that good relationships are developed and maintained with them and negotiate payment arrangements with customers. In addition, the incumbent will have to document and analyze client files and track the age report of the accounts on a monthly basis.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, he/she will be responsible for:
– Plan and execute tasks related to the collection service;
– Analyze and evaluate accounts and recommend actions to be taken for debt collection;
– Communicate with clients and discuss with them the payment of fees;
– Communicate and follow up effectively with clients and lawyers regarding any issues related to accounts;
– Keep the firm’s management and lawyers informed of potential issues, consult in a timely manner and make recommendations;
– Generate and send monthly statements of account to customers;
– Make cheque deposits in the absence of the cashing technician.
Experience and knowledge required.
– Hold a Diploma of Collegial Studies in Administrative Techniques / Accounting or equivalent;
– Have over five years of experience in account collection, ideally in a professional services environment;
– Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
