Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant (Tax) to join their team. As a Senior Associate, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing tax and compilation engagements, providing guidance to junior staff, and building strong relationships with clients. Your role will involve preparing and reviewing various tax returns, conducting tax research, and implementing tax planning strategies.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and monitor the progress of tax and compilation engagements, including Notice to Reader (NTR) and Compilation Engagement Reports (CER).
• Coach and mentor junior staff members on tax assignments, providing guidance and support.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, understanding their tax needs, and providing advice and tax planning strategies accordingly.
• Prepare and review corporation tax returns (T2), personal tax returns (T1), non-resident returns, and respond to CRA inquiries.
• Prepare and review T3 Trust Returns.
• Conduct tax research and stay updated on relevant tax laws, regulations, and developments.
• Collaborate with the team to identify opportunities for tax planning and optimization.
• Stay organized and prioritize workloads, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client meetings and daily interactions.
• Self-motivated and highly organized with an effective working style.
• The ability to prioritize workloads, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
• CPA designation
• Exposure to reorganizations and special tax credits.
• Prior experience in preparing T1, T2, and T3 returns for a minimum of 3 years.
• Proficiency in tax preparation software such as Cantax suite and/or Taxprep.
• Familiarity with Caseware/Caseview, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel.
• Availability to work full-time, with weekends and overtime required during busy tax season.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting firm or tax accounting role.
• Experience overseeing tax engagements from start to finish for a minimum of 3 years.
