Amplify Mission Looking for Director of Operations at London, Canada Metropolitan Area Full Time

Director of Operations – Our Client is a digital media Christian ministry serving communities around the world. They are looking for a senior-level operations practitioner with strong financial acumen to step into the role of Director of Operations, working onsite at their head office in London, Ontario.

About the Role

The Director of Operations is a senior role accountable to the President and overseeing the support services team, including Finance, Donor Relations, Human Resources, and Information Technology/Information Systems. The Director of Operations is responsible for ensuring robust financial management, strategic foresight, and operational efficiency across the organization.

Summary of Responsibilities

Broadly, this hands-on role involves organizational stewardship as well as efficient management of day-to-day operations across the following functions:

Finance (35%)

• Lead CLIENT’s financial operations, including budgeting, cash management, and financial reporting, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals and compliance with financial stewardship principles.
• Oversee all financial operations, ensuring robust internal controls, process optimization, and financial integrity.
• Prepare CLIENT’s annual in-year forecast and next-year budget (Operating Fund, and all Designated Funds) in conjunction with the leadership team and ministry leaders.

Donor Relations (10%)

• Enhance the donor relations strategy to foster donor engagement, stewardship, and trust. Ensure seamless coordination between Donor Relations, Finance, and other departments to maintain donor satisfaction and financial integrity.
• Prepare regular donor and donation analysis reports for comparison and planning purposes.
• Review charitable receipt processes, procedures and output prior to issuance of the receipts.

Human Resources (20%)

• Lead HR operations, focusing on staff and missionary development, engagement, and well-being.
• Align HR strategies with organizational objectives, ensuring effective recruitment, retention, performance management, and staff development practices.

IT/Information Systems (5%)

• Collaborate with the IT/IS team to ensure that technology infrastructure, systems, and policies support the organization’s operational and strategic needs.
• Support initiatives to leverage technology for operational efficiency, innovation, and adaptability in the digital media ministry landscape.

General (30%)

• Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and audit requirements, proactively managing risks and maintaining the organization’s reputation and integrity.
• Oversee property and office management, ensuring that the organization’s physical assets are well-maintained and aligned with operational needs.
• Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships, enhancing the organization’s reach and impact.

In addition, you demonstrate the following key competencies:

• Strong interpersonal skills with a people-centric approach in HR and operations and genuine care for people.
• In-depth knowledge of financial management and ability to provide insights and a clear point of view for effective strategic planning.
• Ability to translate strategic objectives into operational plans, as well as provide oversight and alignment across departments and functions (IT, HR, donor relations, facilities management).
• Ability to pre-empt, discern, and plan for the times, navigating the team from an operational standpoint and putting systems in place to ensure an ongoing sense of stability for the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

These are the essential criteria that candidates must meet to be considered for the role:

• Minimum of 7 years in a leadership role with a comprehensive background in operations, finance, and people management.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• Proficiency in financial software, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to travel as required to meet operational needs and cultivate stakeholder relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

These qualifications are not essential but would enhance a candidate’s application:

• Master’s degree and or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFP).
• Experience in the digital media ministry or non-profit sector is desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in leading change initiatives, fostering innovation, and driving operational efficiency in a dynamic environment.
