• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical discipline
• 3+ years of experience in data modeling, Extract Transform Load (ETL), data warehousing, and transformation of large scale data sources using SQL, Redshift, Oracle, or other Big Data technologies
• 2+ years of quantitative and qualitative data science experience with impact to a business
• 2+ years of problem solving using software systems, and the knowledge to create and maintain data warehouse systems

Job summary

Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is hiring a Business Analyst, Logistics to identify strategic initiatives that will form the next generation of Amazon Logistics. This position strives to solve complex cost and cycle time optimization problems that no one has solved yet.

In this role, the Business Analyst, Logistics will be working in one of the world’s largest and most complex data warehouse environments. The individual will be responsible for the design, creation, management, and business use of extremely large datasets. This role will have an opportunity to help design and build our data infrastructure from the ground up, work with emerging technologies such as Redshift, while driving business intelligence solutions end-to-end: business requirements, workflow instrumentation, data modeling, metadata, reporting, and dashboard development. The Business Analyst, Logistics will work with business customers in understanding the business requirements and implementing reporting solutions.

Key job responsibilities

• Manipulate/mine data from database tables (MySQL, SQL server, Oracle, Data Warehouse, FC log files)
• Conduct investigations into business problems and identify potential opportunities
• Identify and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis, data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
• Improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers
• Work with in-house scientists, global supply chain, transportation and logistics teams, and software teams to identify new features and projects
• Identify ways to automate analysis through smarter software systems
• Track realized savings and impacts, and communicate results with senior leaders
• Maintaining database up-time to include restarting of servers, etc.
• Partner with internal stakeholders across multiple teams, gathering requirements and delivering complete solutions
• Experience to source and combine disparate data sets to answer business questions
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or Math/Statistics/Finance or related discipline
• Knowledge with Data modeling skills, SQL with Oracle, MySQL, and Columnar Databases
• Knowledge to work in a deadline-driven work environment
• Experience to re-prioritize on a regular basis in order to remain current with business needs
• Knowledge to influence others in a positive and professional manner
