The Logistic Coordinator is in charge of ensuring that all shipping and receiving occurs in an orderly fashion and remains on schedule. The Logistics Coordinator will report to the Operations Manager.
This includes the co-ordination of people who are and are not direct reports ie: Shipping, Assembly and Project Managers.
Responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
Coordinates the daily delivery schedule prioritizing shipments according to customer orders.
Ensure all transportation needs are met to ensure the constant flow of inventory and customer orders.
Processes shipping documents including but not limited to packing slips, bill of lading, customs paperwork, border crossings. Responsible for the preparation and transmission of border crossing paperwork.
Works closely and in conjunction with our brokers to ensure shipments cross borders efficently.
Arranging trucks for Inbound and Outbound shipments for both Brantford and Montreal (either regular, flatbeds, specials).
Obtain and negotiate freight quotes from forwarders, dedicated carriers (either land, air or ocean).
Ensure process orders are picked in a timely fashion aligned with assembly operations
Responsible for ensuring warehouse inventories are accurate with a regular cycle count frequency
Enter and document all inventory discrepancies, report as a monthly KPI
Provide support to the shipping staff on the floor to ensure procedures and processes are followed
Implement improvements to shipping processes to streamline the activities in the warehouse
Must possess a service center mentality where we go above and beyond to exceed our customer’s expectations.
Willingness to return to work after hours to make emergency shipments when required
Other duties as required.
When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:
The personality required for this position is someone who can adjust to last minute changes and finds a way of getting the job done.
This position also entails a good knowledge of logistics (local and international).
SAP knowledge is an asset.
Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing and possess strong analytical skills normally associated with post-secondary education.
3+ years’ experience in a similar role.
Must be well organized, capable of exercising initiative, and have sound decision-making capabilities, ability to prioritize the needs of the customer.
Maintain effective internal and external working relationships.
Be able to recognize and identify errors or inconsistencies.
Must have strong understanding of import / export requirements (CUSMA, USMCA, COO) along with strong computer skills for document creation and tracking.
Must have above average human relations skills, including motivation and negotiation
PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND ENVIRONMENT:
Most duties are performed in a sitting position in a climate-controlled office environment.
Moderate to high levels of stress due to changing priorities and multiple deadlines, and constant interaction with internal associates, customers, and vendors.
Duties require constant use of telephone, PC and appropriate business software (SAP, MS Office).
No travel restrictions preventing entry into the United States or Europe for training and meetings.
Bilingual, French and English, asset.
