We are looking for both Full Time and Part Time Veterinary Assistants (VA) to join our team in Ottawa, Ontario. Strengths should reflect competency in patient care, restraint for a variety of procedures and the ability to maintain calm and focused in stressful situations.
A veterinary assistant diploma is requested, however, experienced applicants will also be considered. Excellent communication skills are required, and bilingualism would be a plus but is not a requirement.
Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Using Avimark to input client/patient information as they arrive
- Performing financial transactions
- Answering phone calls
- Assisting the RVT/veterinarian in a variety of surgical procedures
- Ability to assist the RVT in placing IV catheters, blood draws and other various treatments
- Taking care of in-patient such as (husbandry, feeding, walking etc)
- Making sure that treatment areas are clean and stocked
A shift rotation may include some evenings, weekends and overnights.
Wage will be proportional to experience.
