Apothékary™ Looking for Finance & Accounting Manager at Canada Full Time

We are looking for a technically skilled candidate, ideally a CPA, who has both big company and smaller private company accounting and finance experience. The ideal candidate’s skill set will extend beyond pure accounting and reporting skills and include a proven ability to lead a planning/budgeting process and provide proactive analytical decision support to the Senior Leadership team.

This is a roll-up-the sleeves, hands-on role and responsible for managing accounting, reporting and risk management functions. In addition to being a highly skilled accounting professional and leader, the position requires broad cross-functional experience in the consumer product industry with 3rd party manufacturing, inventory accounting, and supply chain operations.

Responsibilities:

• You assume full responsibility for Apothékary’s financial operations ensuring compliance with US GAAP accounting standards and actively participating in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings, including engaging with auditors
• Build trust, credibility, and respect with all internal and external business partners, and at all levels of the organization
• You oversee accounts payables and accounts receivables and make decisions regarding their accurate accounting treatment
• Establish and maintain an effective level of internal controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data
• Managing and developing annual budget, providing risks and variance analyses against plan
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities to confirm entries are properly recorded in general ledger and in accordance with the firm’s policy and GAAP
• Providing proactive and analytical decision support to the Senior Leadership team
• Oversee investor equity questions and shares vis-a-vis Carta
• Oversee all billing, accounts payable, payroll for the company, and collaborate with 3rd party partners around timing of payments
• Collaborate with 3rd party partners to ensure timely filing of all corporate taxes
• Work hand in hand with Operations team to reconcile month-end inventory, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivables, while supporting the business line of credit reporting and GAAP financials reconciliation
• Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions
• Oversee preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly business reports and annual budgets. Ensure that reported results comply with GAAP accounting best practices and Apothékary financial reporting standards
• Build process around how our commercial investments tie in with financial performance, and consistently execute reporting to tie our business analytics of both the DTC and retail channels all together for the team to make informed decisions from
• Serve as an internal financial expert by providing other departments (Marketing, Customer Service, Product Development, Operations, etc.) with financial guidance as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that impact Apothékary’s finances

Requirements

Ideal candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related; Master’s degree and CPA certification preferred; proficiency in US GAAP
• 5+ years of hands-on accounting and managerial experience with earlier years in top-tier consumer products companies, CPG preferred
• Experience directing an overall accounting / finance function with responsibility for transactional accounting, internal and external reporting, treasury, budgeting, tax and audit activities of the organization.
• Expertise managing Capitalization (Cap) Tables, debt, loans and equity in private ownership legal entities.
• Proven accomplishments delivering “continuous” system and process improvements in accounting functions, including specific projects automating and scaling an accounting function for growth.
• Experience supporting a high-growth branded consumer goods business with a strong and expanding sales and marketing functions.
• A leader who is hands-on by nature and has an exceptional level of timeliness and accuracy in his/her/their work.
• Unquestionable ethics that drive leadership and behavior.
