What is the opportunity?

As an Accounting Analyst for Appficiency inc. you will work directly alongside the Accounting & Finance team, assisting on various financial and strategic initiatives through conducting meaningful analysis. This internship offers hands-on experience in various aspects of accounting, financial analysis, and reporting within a dynamic and collaborative work environment.

Who Should Apply?

This role is ideal for those who are looking to deepen their understanding of Accounting & financial modeling, forecasting and analysis, and gain exposure to enterprise building decision making. We are looking for individuals who are motivated to take the lead, are intellectually curious, and have keen problem solving abilities.

What will you do?

• Compile and analyze financial data for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Support the preparation of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Verify accuracy and completeness of financial information.
• Evaluating business admin processes on an ongoing basis to identify emerging needs or improvements as the business continues to grow
• File company credit card receipts and invoices. Booking journal entries of the credit card expenses is a plus.
• Follow up on accounts receivable and provide weekly reports to management
• Support collection process
• Accounts receivables – collection of physical cheques at the office and collection of physical receipts for credit card reconciliation.
• Collaborate with team members to assist in the development of budgets and forecasts.
• Analyze variances between actual financial results and budgeted/forecasted amounts.
• Provide support in creating financial models to aid decision-making.
• Spearheading the implementation and ongoing maintenance and compliance of new processes
• Support in the calculation of commissions and bonuses

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus in finance, accounting, business, commerce, or a related discipline.
• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary school and eligible to complete a 4-month work term from September to December
• Excellent MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
• Some ability to work with large sets of data
• Keen understanding of basic accounting principles
• Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in an entrepreneurial business environment
• Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
• Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast paced environment
• Able to work effectively and reliably under pressure and with minimal supervision

Nice-to-have

• Previous experience working in a professional services, IT or financial environment
• Experience or understanding of financial modeling and financial reporting
