SUMMARY:
The position of Accounts Receivable and Revenue Officer will report directly to the Finance Manager and will work out of our Ottawa office located at 1209 Michael St.
RESPONSABILITIES AND TASKS:
1- Responsibility: Processing all deposits and create invoices for the Archdiocese
· Deposit all cheques received in a timely manner
· Match support to the cheques and ensuring proper deposit to the correct fund is completed
· Complete deposit reconciliation with appropriate general ledger account numbers and related department
· Input deposit information into accounting system and subledger (if applicable)
· Prepare invoices to customers and parishes when required
· Prepare reports and maintain records and files as needed
· Manage customers’ profiles and history
· Be the main point of contact for customers and parishes in order to properly resolve issues
2- Responsibility : Processing all deposits for payment for the Notre-Dame Cathedral
· Deposit all cheques received in a timely manner
· Match support to the cheques and ensuring proper deposit to the correct fund is completed
· Complete deposit reconciliation with appropriate general ledger account numbers and related department
· Input deposit information into accounting system and subledger (if applicable)
· Prepare reports and maintain records and files as needed
· Manage customers’ profiles and history
· Be the main point of contact for customers and parishes in order to properly resolve issues
3- Responsibility: Parish Diocesan Admin Tax
· Compile the annual financial reports completed by the parishes and file accordingly
· Complete the reconciliation of the Diocesan Admin tax on a yearly basis
· Calculate the individual parish Diocesan Admin Tax based on information received and prepare the related invoices to be sent out to all parishes
4- Responsibility: Reconciliations and General
· Complete the reconciliation between the A/R subledger and G/L control account on a monthly basis for both the Archdiocese and the Notre-Dame Cathedral
· Complete the reconciliation of the A/R account to the bank statement for the bank reconciliation on a monthly basis for both the Archdiocese and the Note-Dame Cathedral
· Ensure the A/R clearing account is properly cleared on a monthly basis
· Perform other related accounting tasks as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
· Degree or diploma in finance, accounting or a related field.
· Minimum 2-3 years of progressive experience in a similar role.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual French and English preferred. If not bilingual, must be willing to take language English or French courses during the employment period.
· Ability to work independently or in a team environment, with strong interpersonal skills
· Ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
· Strong attention to detail required;
· Ability to read, understand and calculate financial figures such as discounts, interest rates, proportions, percentages, and taxes;
· Basic knowledge of accounting principles, systems, budgets, and internal controls;
· Demonstrate time management skills;
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with conflicting deadlines and demands;
· High level of integrity and excellent work ethic;
· Ability to process basic to intermediate functions and formulas in Microsoft Excel;
· Previous experience with accounting systems such as Sage to be considered an asset
· Knowledge of the workings of the Roman Catholic Church is an asset.
· Recent Enhanced Police Information Check processed by the Archdiocese.
Work conditions and location
· 1209 Michael Street, Ottawa, ON
· Full time 37.5 hours per week
· Permanent position
· Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m (including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
· Extended periods of sitting
