Arctic Canadian Diamond Company is a Canadian mining company and a significant producer and supplier of premium rough diamond assortments to the global market. The company owns and operates the Ekati Diamond Mine. The company also holds a controlling interest in the Lac de Gras Diamond Project. The Ekati Diamond Mine and the Lac de Gras Diamond Project are located in Canada’s Northwest Territories. In addition to its mining and exploration operations, Arctic has offices in Canada and Belgium.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Reporting and working a Monday to Friday schedule at the Calgary Corporate Office, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for financial analysis for the corporate functions and support departments and lead quarterly forecasting and the annual budget/5 year plan for site departments allocated to the role.
This position will be a one-year term, based in Calgary, AB.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Prepare for monthly departmental cost review meetings, including detailed cost variance analysis;
Maintain costing in SAP, including preparing journal entries for cost allocations, prepaid entries, down payments, etc.;
Prepare accounting entries or memos for complex accounting issues if required;
Prepare inter-company invoices;
Prepare banking entries as needed;
Maintain diamond inventory system and accrue for supply inventory costs if required;
To assist with weekly diamond inventory reporting and gather required information for weekly operational update;
To assist with executing month-end foreign exchange valuation in SAP as needed;
Support departments in preparing budgets and forecasts including presentations and training on financial topics;
Work with assigned area managers to record and monitor their cost and spending;
Support other team members as needed;
Prepare period-end internal controls over financial reporting;
ADHOC projects as required.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree with focus on accounting/business/finance;
5+ years of relevant experience;
Experience in preparing budgets, forecasts and analyses;
Experience with SAP is preferred;
Mining experience is an asset;
Display critical thinking and the ability to analyze complex situations and demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum guidance;
Motivated, proactive and timeline driven team player;
Ability to handle multiple deadlines and a high-pressure environment.
Experience working in the mining industry, northern Canada, and an understanding of the northern regulatory environment is preferred
