About the Position

We are excited to announce we are growing our team and are hiring our first VP of Finance to oversee our finance department. At Area One Farms, the finance department is very important to managing our farm partnership operations and the finance/accounting function is NOT considered back office. The applicant must have a strong accounting background and a CPA.

This position will also work with the investment team and the position will report to the CEO. The VP will be a bridge between the financial operations and the investment team.

Responsibilities

Financial Accounting:

• Provide management and oversight of day-to-day accounting operations;
• Manage and mentor a team of accountants.;
• Provide oversight of accounts receivable, accounts payable and order entry systems as well as employee payroll;
• Oversee the audit process;
• Coordinate financial statements, annual reports, budgets and forecasts with the Management Team;
• Assist in the designing and implementation of specifications for integration between SAGE ERP and Management Information Systems;

Management Analysis:

• Oversee the budgeting schedules in conjunction with the Management Accounting Manager through budget collection, analysis and consolidation of financial data;
• Assist the Management Accounting Team in the development, maintenance and reporting for the cost accounting and KPI systems related to investments in farm partnerships and associated businesses; and
• Assist the management Accounting Team in variance analysis on costs and revenues.

Investment Management:

Assist the Investment Management Team with:

• The analysis or information as may be required on particular investments or with new investment opportunities;
• The coordination of the investment closing process from origination to funding and through to legal documentation for new and follow-on investments.

Communications & Reporting:

• Assist in reporting to all stakeholders of the Funds as required: and
• Maintain relationships with banks, suppliers, farm partners, clients and other parties as required to meet the above-mentioned responsibilities.
