We are looking for a team-oriented, motivated individual to join our team as a Heavy Duty Mechanic Shop Lead at our location in Etobicoke.

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Shop Lead Hand is by coordinating the work of the shop team to work effectively and efficiently, proactively maintain/service equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee the maintenance of a diverse fleet of construction equipment with brands like Caterpillar, Volvo, Deere, Hitachi, Komatsu and a range of equipment including excavators, dozers, off highway trucks, loaders, and more.
• Coordinate shop activities and ensure jobs are assigned based on employee skill sets; ensure employees are working effectively and efficiently while developing their skills.
• Keep track of and assign necessary repairs and maintenance and ensure practical solutions are developed.
• Provide a high standard of customer service when interacting with customers.
• Hands-on mechanical work including preventative maintenance, inspections, and/or repairs as needed.
• Lead and supervise a team of mechanics, providing guidance, training and support.
• Work with the Parts & Service Coordinator to procure parts, issue purchase orders and ensure vendor pricing is competitive.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 3 – 5 or more years’ hands-on mechanical experience working on heavy construction equipment.
• 310T or 421A license required.
• Strong leadership skills – able to lead a team effectively and develop a positive working environment.
• Strong understanding of computer applications and diagnostic tools.
• Must have a valid G license with clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract.
• Must have own tools.
