Associated Grocers has an opening for a Sales position as a *Sales Specialist *at our Vancouver Island Independent Wholesales Sales, BC . This position is full-time, permanent, and reports to the General Manager-Independent Wholesales Sales.This is a position that requires a high energy individual with an all-star work ethic. The ability to follow established procedures and stay organized in a fast paced environment with ever changing priorities is a must.*PURPOSE OF POSITION:*Reporting to the GM- Independent Wholesale Sales, the incumbent is responsible to drive profitable sales to independent retailers on Vancouver Island by direct selling of retail accounts. This person will be excited about promoting the AG programs and driving profitable sales growth. They will know the profitability of their accounts and strive to improve on customer profitability in an environment of constant improvement. Their prime focus will be to increase sales and profitability in the accounts they are assigned and to identify, present proposals to and acquire new business wherever possible on Vancouver Island.*Job Responsibilities:*

• To develop and maintain a call schedule appropriate to the individual customer profitability.
• To plan for each call including designing and achieving specific goal(s) for the call.
• To promote AG programs and products. To make sure that these programs are maintained at retail and there is sufficient distribution throughout the territory.
• To direct retail service work and help with retail service when assigned.
• To maintain and achieve sales and expense budgets.
• To work with the GM-Independent Sales to develop and achieve sales and profitability goals and objectives for the territory.
• To prepare and communicate customer call and new business itineraries on a weekly basis.
• To review with the GM-Independent Sales the territory sales and profitability on a scheduled frequency but not less than quarterly.
• To collaborate with the Marketing team to achieve operational goals and objectives.
• To be knowledgeable of competitive activity in the territory and to report opportunities and threats to Associated Grocers operations on a regular frequency.
• To be a team player with all other departments of the Company.
• To maintain a high level of integrity and honesty in all dealings.
• To have an appropriate business-like telephone manner, language, and finesse.
• To cold call on non-customer retailers in the territory on a regular basis
• To perform other duties and tasks assigned or required as are consistent with the nature and scope of the position.*Requirements:*
• Grocery/Retail experience is required.
• Management experience a plus.
• Communication skills and the ability to work unsupervised are necessary.
• This position requires a highly sales motivated individual that can set goals and objectives and work diligently to accomplish them in a timely manner.
• To travel extensively (up to 90%) throughout, but not limited to, Vancouver Island, neighboring Gulf Islands and Powell River.
• Must have basic skills in the use of Email, MS Word, MS Excel
