Aston Carter Looking for Buyer- Metal Fabrications at Quebec Full Time

Our client, a leader in the rail industry is looking for a Buyer to join their team on a contract basis in the Lachine area.

This role starts as a 3-month contract with the strong possibility of longer term extension based on performance

Description:

Buyer- Metal fabrications

Daily Tasks:

• In house software, based on Microsoft AXIS data basis

• They will be entering orders ( 10-30 orders a day), electrical components more straight forward and mechanical

• The will be following with the supplier in 40% QC and 60% Canada. Electrical US mostly and metal – US

• Large communication with through email/ phone calls or teams meeting

• For the metal fabricated parts – procurement file when they need the material, and they will order off that sheet.

• Track PO and receipt with supplier

• Might need to source for new suppliers, could be limited.

• They will be doing price negotiations with current supplier, because it’s project work and small quantities

• Their main responsibility will be to review and confirm material Price and lead time,

• They will schedule delivers once supplier advises them on delivery

• One of the 2 projects that will represent 80% of work load- one of the project is Buy America – final assembly in the US. While they are doing the prototype, they are in parallel building locomotive.

• They follow up with supplier for NCR, obtain RMA

• They will be apart of meeting to update operational teams

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Must haves:

• 5+ years of experience of buying specifically in Metal Fabrications components

• Ability to read drawings/ BOM

• Bilingual in French and English

• Excel experience – read data and add columns.
