Aston Carter Looking for Operations Officer at Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Full Time

• Description:* The activities associated with this Team are Settlement Monitoring, Corporate Actions processing, Derivatives Clearing as well as OTC Derivatives processing and reconciliation. This person would be on team 2.
• Role Responsibilities* OTC Derivatives
• Affirmation of OTC products and integration of transactions in the Middle Office application
• Reconcile OTC cleared transactions with Clearing brokers
• Handle the reconciliation of Middle Office positions Middle Office for Execution
• Monitor the clearing and posting to Clients’ accounts of the derivatives transactions booked with the dealing room in our Paris Office.
• Monitor the sending of the relevant confirmations and reports to Clients.
• Trigger the sending of instructions to Custodians («vanilla» stock transactions). Securities Settlement
• Monitor and whenever necessary repair or release instructions transiting through our dedicated settlement tool at Custodian level (Globe)
• Investigate non matching and failing trade instructions and take the appropriate actions to ensure settlement of transactions
• Liaise with the various parties involved (broker, local custodian, client, etc.) to solve any settlement issue
• Initiate account to account securities transfer requests whenever a transfer is required Corporate Actions
• Creation and monitoring of events in the data repository upon receipt of notifications
• Notify clients and collect elections (elective events)
• Transmission of Client’s elections to the market
• Must Haves:* 1) 6+ months of Corporate Actions experience (i.e., knowledge of mandatory/voluntary events with swift messages), OR, if the candidate does not have Corporate Actions experience, they must have experience in Settlements for Securities products, within a custodial banking environment (knowledge of back-office processes in a custody banking environment – i.e., Corporate Actions, Settlements, Securities Operations) 2) Proficient with MS Suite 3) Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Soft skills:* Be client-oriented and provide excellent customer service
• Team Player and open minded
• Fluent in English both written and spoken, French is considered a strong asset
• Effective and clear communication
• Proactive with a hands on approach
• Organized with an analytical and concise mind
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Knowledge and good understanding of the Mutual Funds, Banking and Finance Industry as well as of the products and financial markets
• Knowledge of any of the activities covered by our Teams is a strong plus
• Flexibility to work overtime as required from time to time and to work non-standard hours
• Strong knowledge of PC based applications, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
